PANDORA’S SIEM REAP TRAVEL TIPS (Tip 10)

Tip No. 10: Splurge on food and sample some street food avoid street food.
Siem Reap offers a wide range of food choices. There is the authentic Khmer food such as beef Loklak and chicken or fish Amok. As Cambodia was once a French protectorate, many restaurants serve French food. Thai and Vietnamese cuisine are also available because, at one point or another, the Thais and Vietnamese tried to invade Cambodia. For the less adventurous, pizza, pasta, deli sandwiches from the Blue Pumpkin and other more familiar food are available at restaurants that cater to foreigners. So, you should not miss the opportunity to sample the different cuisine available in Siem Reap.
My friend Toe (who lived in Cambodia for six years) did advise us to avoid street food and eat only in reputable restaurants. According to Toe, if we get seriously ill from food poisoning, we may have to be flown out of Cambodia to receive medical treatment from a neighboring country. Following Toe’s suggestion, Padma and I ate at Madame Butterfly, the Soup Dragon, Le Residence D’ Angkor and FCC. And yes Toe, we did not follow your advice and our better judgment, and ate at turo-turos (roadside restaurants) near Bayon and Angkor Wat. But, we survived.

Hey, we survived the cafeteria food in [our school], I’m sure we could handle the Bayon and Angkor Wat turo-turos.
It’s a good thing though that nothing happened to you or else it would hurt… hurt your pride… hahaha!
Just imagine the headlines… [Pandoras die] in Cambodia… not because of the landmines but because of the turo-turo!
