FULL HOUSE: Dated but Still One of the Best
The Korean romantic comedy series Full House starring Rain and Song Hye Kyo was broadcasted by KBS in 2004.
Full House is about an orphaned girl, Han Ji-Eun, who inherits a beautiful house by the sea. Ji-Eun is attached to the house as her father built it. In the beginning, Ji-Eun’s best friend finds herself pregnant and is disinherited by her parents. To be able to have enough money to raise her baby, Ji-Eun’s best friend and her boyfriend, send Ji-Eun to China. While Ji-Eun is in China, they sell her house and steal her savings. When Ji-Eun gets back to Korean, she finds herself penniless and homeless.
Ji-Eun later discovers that her house was sold to Lee Young Jae, a very popular actor. Out of desperation, Ji-Eun agrees to become Young Jae’s maid in exchange for allowing her to live in the house. Later, Young Jae asks Ji-Eun to pretend to be his wife for a period of time. When that period ends, Young Jae will return the house to Ji-Eun. Inevitably, Young Jae and Ji-Eun fall for each other.
The plot is actually very simple and reminiscent of a Mills and Boon story. But, what is interesting about Full House is how the story and characters are developed in a very comedic manner. Best of all, Full House had a happy ending. I would recommend this to those who are looking for a pleasant escape from reality.
