A VOLCANO AND BREAKFAST AT ANTONIO’S

A couple of weeks ago, I was in Tagaytay, which is now about an hour and a half away from Makati. From the ridge of the mountain upon which Tagaytay sits, I saw Taal volcano. Having seen the massive volcanoes of Java, I realized that the Taal volcano is tiny compared to them. Nevertheless, no matter how many times I have seen Taal volcano (more than twenty times), its beauty never ceases to amaze me. Taal is of course a volcano within a lake within a volcano within a lake. Confusing, right? But, you will understand once you see it.
I had difficulty photographing Taal volcano because a carabao was tied in the area where one could get the best view of the volcano. I suppose the carabao and I were mutually wary of one other.

During several recent trips to Tagaytay, I did not eat at Breakfast at Antonio’s as it was no longer located at the main road. Breakfast at Antonio’s used to be located on the ridge of Tagaytay and had a great view of Taal volcano.
On this trip, my family and I decided to try Breakfast at Antonio’s at its new location. The food was good. No surprise there. What surprised us, however, was how the restaurant was set up so beautifully. Its high ceilings and wide spaces allowed for maximum air circulation. There were huge windows and doors, verandas and plants. The colors of the dining area are black and white accented by the green color of the plants making that place extremely pleasing to the eyes. Overall the ambiance made the dining experience a pleasant one.
What did I eat at Antonio’s? I ordered the beef tapa with rice and eggs but I pretty much tried everyone else’s meal.
